Something not working, or a question the app doesn't answer? Email us — a real person reads every message.
We aim to reply within two business days. It helps to include your device model, your OS version, and the app version — you'll find the version in Settings → About.
No. DocDigest ships with a fast built-in engine that works from the very first launch, fully offline. Optionally, you can download an on-device AI model for abstractive summaries written in the model's own words. That one download happens over the internet and can be several hundred megabytes — use Wi‑Fi if you can. After it, the model runs entirely offline, and Offline-only mode blocks even the download.
Larger AI models write better summaries but need considerably more memory and time. If a model struggles on your device, pick a smaller one in Settings → Manage models, or use the built-in fast engine. Long documents are processed in sections, and you can re-summarize any document with a different engine or length whenever you want.
PDF, TXT, MD, CSV, HTML and RTF, plus pasted text. The in-app file picker always reflects the current list for your version.
DocDigest reads the text layer of a PDF. A scanned document that is only images has no text layer, so there is nothing to extract yet. If the PDF contains selectable text but the summary still looks wrong, email us the details — format quirks are exactly the kind of bug we want to hear about.
Summaries compress — that's the point — but they can miss nuance. For anything critical, the Highlights tab quotes the source verbatim, Ask this document answers from the text itself, and re-summarizing with a larger model or the "detailed" length usually recovers what a short summary dropped.
Open the upgrade screen and tap Restore. Purchases are tied to the store account that made them, so make sure you're signed in to the same Apple Account or Google account you bought with. If it still doesn't unlock, email us with the store receipt and we'll sort it out.
No. The annual plan starts with a 7-day free trial; the yearly price is only charged when the trial ends. Cancel at least 24 hours before it ends and you pay nothing. The trial is managed in the same place as subscriptions, below.
Subscriptions are billed by the app store, not by us, so they're managed there:
Cancelling stops future renewals; Pro stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for. The Lifetime unlock is a one-time purchase — nothing to cancel.
Refunds are handled by the store that took the payment — Apple or Google — under their own policies. Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com. Google: Play refund request. If a refund is refused and you think that's wrong, tell us and we'll help where we can.
Your documents and summaries never leave your device — we can't see them, and we can't recover them for you. That also means we can't restore a document you've deleted. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy, and the Terms of Use cover the rest.
Crash and diagnostic reports reach us automatically and anonymously — they flag errors and fallbacks, but never include your documents or what they say. If you hit something reproducible, an email describing the steps — and, if you're comfortable sharing it, the document that triggers it — is far more useful than the crash log alone.
